April with DiviQ 🌸
Hey DiviQ community,
Spring is doing its thing, quantum is doing its thing (rapidly, chaotically, occasionally confusingly), and we’re here making sure inclusion doesn’t get left behind in the process.
Here’s your April dose of what’s happening and what’s coming up.
Recent conversations across the field are getting louder about this gap. Reports continue to highlight that women and other underrepresented groups are still a small fraction of the quantum workforce, especially in leadership roles.
The good news? More initiatives, more community-led efforts, and more visibility for women in quantum are gaining traction. The better news? You’re already part of that shift.
Check out my latest paper on the quantum education and workforce ecosystem!
Diviq’s Denise will be at the Perspektywy Women in Tech Summit 2026! (Warsaw, Poland, June 10–11).
One of the largest women-in-tech events in Europe, bringing together thousands across STEM for networking, mentoring, and career opportunities (CWM).
Expect a strong quantum presence this year, too!
WIQD Awards (nominations still open!)
The Women in Quantum Development (WIQD) Awards are about spotlighting the people doing the work, such as researchers, educators, builders, and community leaders, the ones quietly (or loudly) pushing this field forward.
So, nominate someone who made quantum click for you, a person working on building inclusive spaces, or someone doing incredible work without nearly enough recognition.
DiviQ Travel Scholarships are open!
These are here so you can attend conferences, present your work, meet collaborators and future employers, and be in the conversations shaping this field.
Final thought
Quantum doesn’t become inclusive by accident. It happens because people push for it, build for it, and show up for it, over and over again.
So whether that’s applying, nominating, attending, or just staying in the loop, you’re part of that momentum.
And we’re really glad you’re here.
Until next time,
Sara A Metwalli, PhD
