DiviQ's Fall Newsletter
Hello DiviQ community!
As we step into the estive winter season, we’re reminded that diversity in quantum isn’t just about representation, but also about reshaping how we build, collaborate, and imagine the future of science together.
In this month’s newsletter, we’re celebrating new beginnings, meaningful action, and the incredible people who keep pushing our field toward equity and inclusion.
Welcoming Alina!
We’re thrilled to announce Alina Gallardo (She/Her) as DiviQ’s new Community and Recruitment Officer — here to help gather and weave our growing quantum community together.
Alina is a PhD student in quantum sensing at the University of Oulu, Finland, where she researches computational simulations of spin dynamics in diamond NV⁻ centres. She previously completed an MSc in Quantum Science and Technology at Trinity College Dublin and a BSc in Nanotechnology at UDLAP, Mexico.
As a Latin American woman in quantum science, Alina recognises the urgency of creating safe and inclusive spaces for scientists from underrepresented backgrounds. If science is meant to describe and improve the world we live in, then the process should allow anybody to feel safe enough to make groundbreaking contributions.
As DiviQ’s new Community and Recruitment Officer, Alina is excited to help build a global quantum community where everyone has what they need to excel.
One of Alina’s favorite quotes is:
“The highest forms of understanding we can achieve are laughter and human compassion.”
— Richard P. Feynman
Welcome, Alina — we’re so lucky to have you on board!
DiviQ Scholarship Spotlight
We’re delighted to announce Lucien Québaud as the DiviQ Travel Scholarship Winner!
“I’m Lucien, a 25-year-old PhD student from France. I began my doctoral studies two years ago at the University of Innsbruck after completing my bachelor’s and master’s degrees in France. My research focuses on coupling superconducting qubits to a high-coherence cavity to enable the implementation of flexible multi-qubit gates.”
Lucien, we’re thrilled to support your journey. Congratulations!
Women 4 Quantum Launch
We want to extend our heartfelt congratulations to Women 4 Quantum on their launch! 🎉
We, too, are tired of words without action. It’s energizing to see a movement growing for women and marginalized folks in quantum science — one grounded in tangible change, not just talk.
We’re cheering you on every step of the way. Let’s keep amplifying, organizing, and reshaping the quantum space together.
WiQD’s Mentorship Program
Not in the Netherlands, but excited to be part of our mentorship in quantum program?
Good news: you can!
Applications are open for the DiviQ Mentorship Program, connecting mentors and mentees across the globe. Whether you’re looking for guidance, community, or a chance to give back, mentorship is how we strengthen our network and help each other grow.
Interested? Fill out the application here, and one of our team members will reach out to you soon!

Survey Updates
We’ve reached 900 responses! Thank you to everyone who’s shared their voice so far!
But our goal is 2,000, and we still need your help. Please widely distribute our flyer and survey information.
Our initial findings confirm what many of us already know: marginalized folks are struggling in our field. This data is vital as it will help us identify where change is most needed and design new diversity-driven solutions to support everyone in quantum.
Let’s reach 2k together and make sure every experience is heard. Fill out the survey today!
Thanks for being part of this journey.
Sara on behalf of the DiviQ team ❤️
