Hello, quantum scientists, researchers, and enthusiasts!
What better way to kick off the summer than some quantum news!
First and foremost, I am thrilled to join the DiviQ team as Vice President. Together with the rest of the fantastic team, we will continue to support and encourage the DiviQ and the general quantum community.
Now, a couple of important announcements:
We are happy to share with you the story of our first scholarship recipient, Laura Lewis, at APS:
“This March, I had the opportunity to attend the 2025 APS Global Physics Summit in Anaheim, California, with the support of the Diversity in Quantum (DiviQ) travel scholarship. I gave a talk on one of my recent research projects, which provides rigorous guarantees for classical machine learning algorithms in learning the ground states of local Hamiltonians. The APS Global Physics Summit provided an excellent venue for presenting my work, as the physics-focused audience showed a strong interest in my research. Many people reached out to me following the talk, potentially sparking new future collaborations. As I come from a more mathematical and computer science background, it was especially helpful to learn about new problems in condensed matter physics to which my work could be applied.
Moreover, this year's summit was particularly focused on quantum information and physics, in celebration of the International Year of Quantum. It was exciting to spend the week immersed in recent developments in quantum, with some highlights including recent advances in experimental platforms and a new quantum circuit characterization of phase transitions between gapped quantum phases of matter. It was also inspiring to hear some of the founders of the field give their perspectives on the growth of the field and where it's going next. I especially enjoyed an overview of the history of quantum information given by Prof. Ike Chuang. Overall, the APS Global Physics Summit was a productive and inspiring meeting to attend, and I am grateful to the DiviQ Scholarship for allowing me to attend.”

If you want to meet us this summer, DiviQ's Denise Ruffner will be speaking on June 4th at the Women in Tech Summit in Poland. Please feel free to come up and say hello if you're in the area.
Another opportunity to meet us is at Helgoland, where DiviQ's Tzula Propp will be present all next week, along with DiviQ swag and prizes for completing our survey, which will help us improve the quantum community.
The first results from the survey are in, and Tzula will be presenting at Helgoland. However, we need more data, so please take our survey and share it with your friends and colleagues.
Stay tuned for us to announce the first prize scholarships for survey-taking later this week.
DiviQ is now a tax-deductible 501c3! So, if you want to support us and the quantum community by donating. For more details, please email us at info@diviq.org.
Lastly, we are so delighted to announce that Women in Quantum Development (WIQD) has shifted to We in Quantum Development! We're proud to be their partner and excited to keep working together for a better and brighter quantum future for everyone! Watch the rebrand video to learn more about this partnership!
Stay tuned for more DiviQ and quantum news!
