International Women's Day
Let's celebrate the contribution of women in quantum computing and take action
Dear Quantum Science and Technology Community,
On this International Women’s Day, we at Diversity in Quantum celebrate the incredible women who have shaped, and continue to shape, the field of quantum science and technology. Today, we honor their achievements, acknowledge the challenges they have overcome, and reaffirm our commitment to fostering an inclusive and equitable environment in quantum research and industry.
Women have made pioneering contributions to quantum mechanics and its applications, from foundational work in theoretical physics to groundbreaking advancements in quantum computing, materials science, and engineering. Despite their profound impact and leadership in breaking through glass ceilings, gender disparities still persist. It is our collective responsibility to bridge this gap by amplifying marginalized voices, creating opportunities, and ensuring a supportive network for women and underrepresented groups in quantum.
As a community, we at DiviQ are dedicated to fostering mentorship, collaboration, and advocacy to empower the next generation of diverse leaders in quantum––including non-binary and transgender quantum scientists, quantum scientists of color, and all those who feel the impact of marginalization. We encourage everyone to take meaningful action—whether by mentoring aspiring scientists, advocating for equitable policies, or recognizing and celebrating the contributions of women in the field.
Today and every day, let’s continue striving for a more diverse, inclusive, and innovative quantum future. Join us in celebrating the brilliant women in quantum and supporting the progress toward true equity in science and technology. Together, we will make the next 100 years of quantum excellent for all.
With appreciation and solidarity,
Diversity in Quantum
